The plaintiff, MGM China Holdings Limited, operates casinos in Macau. The defendant, Xiang Zuo, is an entertainer and the son of Charles Heung, Chairman of China Star Entertainment.
According to the statement of claim, Xiang Zuo was a customer of the plaintiff’s Macau casino. On 1 December 2024, he borrowed HKD 2 million and exchanged it for gaming chips, with an agreement to repay the full amount on the same day. However, after deducting the amount from Xiang’s account and partial repayments made, the plaintiff alleges that HKD 1.4 million remains unpaid.
The plaintiff further states that under the agreement, they are entitled to charge interest at an annual rate of 18%, calculated from the date of the loan until full repayment. The plaintiff is now seeking repayment of the outstanding loan and accrued interest from Xiang Zuo.
