Man, 52, woman, 45, arrested after Jalan Besar hotel visit allegedly ended in quarrel, blood on sheets & run-in with police
The couple were hotel regulars.
The police were called in after a couple's squabble apparently turned bloody in a Jalan Besar hotel.
The incident occurred on Jun. 16 at around 6pm at Hamilton Road.
At least six police cars and an ambulance were at the scene.
Eight police officers were on scene.
What happened
The hotel front desk staff told Shin Min Daily News that a guest heard two people arguing loudly in the next room and notified the front desk.
The staff informed the hotel manager, who saw blood on the hotel room door and called the police.
Couple were hotel regulars
The hotel front desk told Shin Min that the man and woman were regulars at the hotel who would book a two-hour stay each time.
If they checked out later, they would pay extra.
When the couple did not check out on time at 4pm after checking in at 2pm, the hotel staff did not think much about it.
She said: "They would pay for the extra time every time, but this time they were arrested and the balance has not been paid."
She also said this was the first time she heard the two quarreling.
She added that the room was in a mess this time.
The kettle was broken and the toilet door was damaged.
The hotel room floor and sheets were even stained with blood.
Run-in with police
In response to Mothership's queries, the police said a 52-year-old man was arrested for using criminal force against a public servant and a 45-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties.
The police said the man behaved aggressively and allegedly charged towards its officers, while the woman was non-compliant to instructions despite several warnings.
The woman was seen being taken into a police car at around 7:30pm.
The police left the premises at about 8:30pm.
Police investigations are ongoing.
